I have ordered from them before and liked most of their stuff. I want to take advantage of this deal, but don't want to order 27 items (or so) to get the free shipping with orders over $20.

If you sign up for the kids club (you can do it online), then they will send you a $3 off any $3 or more purchase near your kids bday. They last for a few months, so I always save them and wait for deals.
I recall the finger paints were 5.99 -$3= $3 for two sets!! (they were pretty big)

Retail Stores Closing

Specialty apparel retailer, Abercrombie & Fitch is discontinuing its Ruehl division. The retailer is closing all of its 29 Ruehl stores by the end of 2009.
We have a Ruehl store here in Austin at the Domain. I don't know when they are closing, but if you are ever there it might be worth stopping by to see if they have any good deals.

Not sure if any these store are closing near us. This is kind of sad, but you could score some good deals. There are more stores listed here.

Pier 1 Imports announced: March 20, 2009

that it expects to close no more than 80 stores over the next fiscal year.

Retailer Ann Taylor said it would now close a total of 163 stores by the end of fiscal 2010. Previously, it said it would close 117 stores.

Cost Plus, Inc. plans to close 26 of its World Market stores and exit eight markets.

Free Movies are Back!

Every year Regal has free movies at their theaters all summer long. Our closest Regal is at Lakeline Mall. These fill up fast, so go early and bring something to keep the kids occupied while they wait!

Warehouse Face Off

There is a lot of discussion about whether or not Warehouse Clubs (i.e. Costco and Sam's Club in these parts) are worth the membership price.

Here is an article that compares prices of individual items at the grocery store and at the clubs. Definitely worth a peek.

My one criticism is that, for example, you aren't going to buy one huge pack of Huggies at the grocery store. If you buy 5 smaller packs and use 5 coupons, it changes the deal.

Also, this article was written based on data collected in New Jersey. We might find our prices to be a little different.

That said, if you absolutely need something you use a lot and can't wait around for a sale, it looks like the clubs may be your better bet.

My shipping came to about $8, and I ordered a lot. :) I'm normally hesitant about ordering clothes online since I don't know if it will fit right, but you can return any item at no cost to you by printing out a UPS label from the website.

Baskin Robbins .31 cent scoop night-TONIGHT!!

On Wednesday, April 29th, 2009, Baskin-Robbins stores across the country will hold 31 Cent Scoop Night from 5-10 pm to honor America's firefighters. Baskin-Robbins will reduce prices of small ice cream scoops to 31 cents.

Cheap sunscreen

Today I was at Walgreens (on Discovery and 183) and saw they had some Walgreens spray sunscreen on clearance for $1.99, regularly almost $8. (The clearance "section" at that Walgreens is on the endcap in the back of the store by the makeup. It's across from the socks).

I love that stuff for Garrett (so much easier than lotion), but it goes fast and is expensive. Then I realized that all of their spray sunscreen is B1G1 this week, including the clearance sprays! So you can get 2 bottles for $1 each!

There were probably about 8 bottles left when I went. I'm not sure why some of the bottles were clearanced and others were not.

Diaper Comparisons

Coupons.com currently has printable $5 off and $3 off Huggies coupons. There is supposed to be a good deal on Huggies at Walgreens next week, so print out those coupons now in case they reach their print limit. Let me know if you can't find it.

Also, Natalie noted the prices of diapers at Costco for comparison reasons:

The Costco brand (Kirkland?) is actually more expensive.

That's good information to have as you look at various deals.

Grocery Help

A few of you are trying out The Grocery Game and have asked me for input. I personally have not tried The Grocery Game, mainly because with a bit more effort, you can find almost anything online without having to pay for it.

It can be a little overwhelming at first, but hang in there and you'll get the hang of it. Or, just try out The Grocery Game. I'm sure you'll more than break even if you do.

For national ads (CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart), I like to follow coupon blogs. Some of my favorites are Money Saving Mom and Mommy Snacks.

For Randalls ads, I like Coupon Mom. You want to check out "Grocery Deals By State."

HEB is not very coupon friendly. A lot of their sale items are on sale with the yellow coupons found in the store. These coupons are almost always manufacturer coupons. You can't use 2 manufacturer coupons on 1 item, so this means you can use any of your newspaper coupons (and the whole point is to combine sales with coupons to get really great deals). Also, HEB is very regionalized, so some people in Houston might have a certain deal, but we won't have it here. But HEB has good prices in general, so I do most of my shopping there and then just get the best deals at the other stores.

A good website with all deal information you could possibly want for any store out there is Hot Coupon World. It's a discussion forum, but there is a discussion for pretty much every store and online deals as well. HEB and Randalls are both on there under the grocery section.

So hopefully that will help teach you all to fish a little bit, especially right now while I'm in the newborn stage.

Time To Go Shopping!

Natalie just told me that both Old Navy and Carters are having good sales today.

Old Navy is having a 50% off sales prices sale right now. You can get this deal online as well using the code EXTRA50 (50% off on all clearance items), but you have to pay for shipping.

Carters had some pajamas and shirts marked down to $3.99 and are taking an additional 40% off those prices.

I also know that Kid-To-Kid is having their semi-annual sale this weekend as well. That reminds me, I recently heard that Kid-To-Kid has a book club for kids where they get to pick out a free book at the store once a month. They mentioned it in an email they sent me, but I haven't tested it out to see if any purchase was required.

So, in other words, it looks like a lot of stores are having some good sales these days. Just what you needed - a reason to shop!

Target Deals

It looks like Target is doing some spring cleaning in their store.

I went in today and a lot of things are marked on clearance. There were a few toy aisles, a baby aisle, and some clothes all marked 30-75% off. The toys were marked 30% off, but shoppers in other states have reported seeing 75% off sales on toys, so it might be worth popping in over the next week or so to see. It seemed like most sections had at least a few items on clearance.

So, if it's too cold to go play and you need to get out of the house, maybe you should stop by and browse.
