Intro To Walgreens

If you've never shopped at Walgreens before, you are in for a little treat.

Every month Walgreens comes out with their EasySaver Catalog. And, each month, there are several items listed in that catalog that are free after rebate. Usually these items include things like mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. Things you can never have too much of.

You buy the items, save the receipts, submit your information online, and wait for your money to come back to you. The first time you do this, it might take several weeks. After you do it once, it shouldn't take more than 2.

It gets better. You can opt to get your money back by check or by Walgreens gift card. If you ask for the gift card, you get an extra 10% back on your gift card. Then, the next month you can use your gift card to buy the items, send away for your rebate, ask for the card, and get another 10% extra back!

There are frequently coupons out for free items. You can use coupons on the items and still get the full price back as a rebate!

Walgreens $5 off $20

I'm going to give you a full discourse on Walgreens shopping in just a minute, but first I wanted to post this.

Here is a $5 off $20 purchase at Walgreens, valid July 31st only. You must spend $20 after coupons.

You can use the coupon on the free after rebate items. If you bought all of the items free this month, your total would be $40. You could buy half the items, use the $5 off coupon, and still get the full price rebated back to you!

Coupons - What You Need To Know

Some of my deals will include coupons and if you've never dealt with them before, you might want to read my introduction below.

I currently have a Sunday news subscription to the Austin American Statesman, purely to get the coupons each week. I pull out each insert, write the date on the front in large, black marker and file it away. When I find a deal, I look for the coupon and cut it out.

Some people clip every coupon right away, organize them, and carry them all to the grocery store. That's more work, but then you never miss a deal because you left a coupon at home.

There can be up to 3 inserts in each newspaper. They each have their own brand name: SmartSource (SS), Procter and Gamble (P&G), and Red Plum (RP). When I refer to a coupon, I'll identify it like this:

$1/1 Cheerios - SS 7/22

...which means the coupon is $1 off 1 box of Cheerios and came out in the July 22 Smart Source insert.

You can also find most coupons on eBay. Of course you have to make sure you can get the coupons fast enough to use them for the sale. There are a lot of printable coupons available and you can almost make do just using these. I haven't found a local store that won't accept them yet.

Coupons may or may not be worth it to you. We don't eat a lot of processed foods and at least half of coupons are for these foods. But there are a lot of coupons for cleaning products and toiletries. It helps if you are open-minded about the brands you use.

Don't forget Randall's doubles coupons up to 50 cents and triples coupons worth up to 39 cents. Although, if you have 5 of the same coupon, they only double or triple the first one.

Also, try not to fall into the trap of spending money just to save some money!

Welcome!

Who wants to save some money?!

I'm hoping to use my resources to help you find good deals in the Cedar Park, TX area! Look for retail deals, grocery deals, drugstore deals, and even online deals.

I'm going to start with a disclaimer. I think there are a lot of great websites out there that do a great job pointing out deals. That's mainly where I get my information and I'll credit the sites where I get my information. Hopefully the fact that I have all the local deals in one spot will be helpful.

Our second greatest tool is each other. If you find a deal, let me know and I'll post it!
