This is just a website I recently found. I haven't spent any time on it, but I thought I would pass it along. You can download free mp3s of kid music at http://freekidsmusic.com/.

Deseret Book

I got an email from Deseret Book saying that you could get 40% off any one book using the code FF40DB! Also, all their Christmas titles are 50% off. None of this will arrive for Christmas, but if there's something you had your eye on, or something you want for next year, now's a good time!

The Early Bird Gets the Bananas!

This morning I went to HEB first thing to get my Christmas grocery shopping over with. I probably arrived by 9:30am. When I went over to the bananas, I found paper grocery bags filled with bananas for $1 each. For the whole bag full of bananas. They were old bananas, but I swear I have paid full price for bananas that looked as slightly speckled as these did. I bought a bag and counted them at home - 40 bananas for $1! I also bought 5 fresh bananas and those cost me 87 cents.

The bags were gone by the time I left, but I just say this as a reminder that if you go to the store in the morning, you might find a few special markdowns. These deals won't last until mid-morning, but it's exciting when you find one!

And what am I doing with 40 bananas? I broke them up into pieces and I'm freezing them to use in banana breads, muffins, and smoothies. Remember, even if you find a markdown on something like broccoli, you can blanch it and freeze it to use later.

Dress Shirt Sale at Amazon

Amazon is having a Men's Dress shirt sale right now. There is free shipping and some shirts are up to 70% off. Quite a few are right around $10 for IZOD and Van Heusen shirts.

Also, if you still have some toy shopping to do, check out Amazon's toy sale going on right now. Up to 80% off on toys. The inventory changes frequently, so you might want to look a couple times.

Just so you know, Amazon claims that you will receive your packages by Christmas with their free shipping as long as you order by tomorrow (December 17th). So just a little bit longer for online Christmas shopping!!

P&G eSAVER

I just found out that Randalls is now participating in P&G's eSAVER program. If you register online, you can load P&G coupons onto your Randall's card. Then, when you buy the right item and scan your card, it works just like a coupon! Very nice and the best part is there is no clipping and remembering the coupon! The bad part is you have to remember (print the list) of which coupons you have on your card!

Club Libby Lu Going Out of Business

Club Libby Lu is going out of business and is selling off their stuff for cheap. The stuff is in large quantities, but would be great for a little girl's birthday party. They have stuff like a gallon of purple shampoo, a pack of 24 pink rockstar headsets, a huge pack of bobby pins, and a 12 pack of glitter microphones. Shipping is free, but there are no returns.

Randalls through 12/16

This week at Randalls, they have a really good buy 5, save $5 promotion on select Kellogg's cereals, including Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Mini Wheats, Smart Start, Special K, and Froot Loops. If you buy 5 of any of those cereals, you get $5 off. You can also print out this coupon for $1 off any Kellogg's cereal. These cereals are on sale for $2.29 - $2.99 a box. So, you buy 5, get $5, use 5 $1 off coupons and you get 5 boxes of cereal from 29-99 cents each!

The coupon I listed looks like it will let you print out 3 on your computer. I printed out 3 on my laptop, then 2 more on my desktop so I could have 5.

Oh, and the cereals do have tags by them saying which ones qualify. It looked like all the varieties of the above listed cereals were included, which doesn't always happen. Make sure you pick out the right size though! Check the tags that mention the buy 5, save $5 promotion to see what size qualifies. And when you check out, watch the cashier's screen to see the $5 come off at the end.

That's the main deal at Randalls this week. Boneless round rump roast is $1.99/lb, red grapes are $0.99/lb, and large navel oranges are $0.99/lb. And if you're a sucker for fresh pineapple like I am, they are $2.50 each after a buy 1, get 1 free sale, but that's only an average deal.

Diapers on Amazon.com

Follow this link for a special deal on various Pampers diapers at Amazon.com. Find the diapers you want, then buy them using Amazon's Subscribe and Save. This will save you an additional 15%. (FYI, the subscribe and save option means you sign up for a regular delivery, but it's no strings attached. Cancel it right after you get your first order if you want). Then use the code PMPRSDO8 to get an additional 15% off.

This includes boxes of Swaddlers, Baby Dry, Cruisers, and Easy Ups (which I personally like better than Pull Ups).

So, a total of 30% off on diapers, plus free delivery. There are some good prices. I bought Baby Dry, size 1-2 for a bit over 12 cents a diaper in the end. Do the math before you buy to see if it's a good deal for you.

And speaking of that, I haven't been buying diapers so I've lost the thread, but I guess diaper prices are raising (like everything else!). I'm not exactly sure what a good price is on diapers anymore. You can look up diaper prices on Costco.com for comparison. Size 2 Huggies diapers were over 20 cents each on Costco.com.

$5 Dinners

You might want to check out the blog $5 dinners. She posts her dinner justa bout every day and they almost always cost less than $5 for her whole family. She lives in a different part of the country, so I think her grocery prices are a tad lower than ours. She also coupon shops, so that helps her buy lower priced foods. She cooks GF (gluten free), which is interesting because usually that gets pretty expensive.

I think it's a good place to go if you're stumped for dinner and are trying to think of simple ideas for cheap.

Randall's 12/3

Yay! I'm feeling motivated enough to hit more than one grocery store this week!

Randall's has a few good deals, especially if you get the Sunday newspaper coupons.

Through Saturday there is a buy 5, get $5 sale going on. You can mix and match the items and the $5 comes off your purchase automatically. If you buy 5 items and get the $5 off and have a few coupons, you can get:

Rice Krispies and Froot Loops for 49 cents! (Use $1 off coupons from 11/09 RP)
Jif Peanut Butter for 95 cents (use 55 cent coupon from 11/09 RP)
Welch's Grape Juice, 64 oz for 99 cents (use $1 off 10/05 SS coupon)
Owens Sausage Rolls for 95 cents (use 70 cent coupon from 11/16)
Mission Fajita Size Tortillas 20 oz for $1.69

The rest of these are through Tuesday:

Other deals include Clementines 3 lbs for $2.99, Navel oranges for 88 cents/lb, Chicken breasts $1.99/lb, and Ground beef (80/20) for $1.49/lb.

If you prefer less fat in your ground beef, you can rinse the ground beef in a colander after you cook it. This will significantly reduce the fat content, but you can still get the more affordable meats.

Free Dr. Pepper?

From PinchingYourPennies.com....

LOS ANGELES — Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality.

The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday.

"We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."

Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.

Discount School Supply - 94% off!!

Discount School Supply is having a huge warehouse sale. Some of their items are 94% off! And you get free shipping on orders over $79. Think craft supplies, playground balls, activity mats, etc.

Take a look. I don't know if I want to spend $80 right now, so if someone wants to do an order together and get free shipping, let me know ASAP!

Personalized Children's Christmas Book

Check out this link for a printed book with your child's name and friends' names inside! They are selling the book for 1 cent, with $3.99 shipping, so $4 total for a personalized Christmas book! Fun!

Don't forget if you are doing your Christmas shopping online, it's a good idea to finish up by December 1st to account for exceptionally slow shipping. You can probably order after December 1st and still get it (some websites, like Amazon have guaranteed delivery dates), but you would hate to miss Christmas morning!

    $2.99 2-pack Jammies - Babies/Toddlers

It looks like the Walmart PJ deal is over, but the Daily Deal at Graveyard Mall is a 2-pack of pajamas (boys or girls, sizes 12M- 4T) for $2.99! Shipping is $5.99 for the first item and only $1 extra for each item after that, so this deal would be best if you bought more than 1 two-pack.

    Restaurant.com

Have you ever been to Restaurant.com? You can buy gift certificates to restaurants at a discount. Usually the gift certificates have a minimum purchase (so you buy a $25 gift certificate, but you have to spend $40 at the restaurant). The best part is you can often find deals on the gift certificates.

For example, here is a code that will let you buy a $25 gift certificate for $4 and you get a free $10 gift certificate too! Just pay attention to the rules and minimum purchases when you buy your gift card!

Use code HARVEST and pay $4 for $25 certificates through 11/13/08.

It's a great way to get to eat out, try new places, and sometimes you get to order a little more than usual (like dessert!) to make your minimum purchase.

    Free Snapfish Photo Book!

Free 20 page 8"x11" custom photo book at Snapfish until November 16!

I made photobooks for our parents last year for Christmas and they turned out so cute! I'm just going to make a baby's first year photobook for my next baby rather than buying a baby book. You can find deals and sometimes free books frequently.

HURRY! Girls 6/7/8 Pajamas 97 cents on Walmart.com

Follow this link to buy 97 cent girl's pajamas on Walmart. Supposedly shipping is free, but you should definitely be able to get free shipping to the store if you can't get it to your home.

I couldn't justify buying some. I don't have any little girl relatives and I don't want to store some PJs for 6 years until my new little one can fit them!

5 Best and Worst Costco Deals

I just saw this article on MSN.com: 5 Best and Worst Costco Deals. Here is the summary.

    Top 5 deals at Costco:

    Alcohol
Milk, butter, and eggs (count as one evidently)
    Electronics
Meat (better quality at supermarket prices)
    Prescriptions

    Worst 5 deals at Costco:

    Designer clothing
    Stuff you won't fully use
Freezer foods (most people don't have enough room to store the bulk packages)
Paper goods (here's a surprise - paper towels, toilet paper, etc. are usually cheaper elsewhere)
    Gasoline

It can be convenient to stock up, but don't always assume you're getting the best price!

    Muir Glen Coupon

Here is a link to a $1/1 coupon for any Muir Glen product. They make organic, canned tomatoes and tomato products like paste and sauce.

At Walmart, their products are around $1.25. With this coupon it's a great deal on organic tomatoes! Just don't use it at HEB! They're almost twice as much!

    Summer Fun at Amazon!

Amazon has discounted many of their outdoor water toys up to 70% off. Maybe not the thing on the top of your shopping list, but now's the time to buy!

By the way, if anyone is looking for something specific this holiday season, feel free to ask me for deals. A lot of times I see a deal on one specific item, but I don't post it since it's such a specific item.

Not deals necessarily, but free and cool!

I have a couple of notes for you. These aren't deals per se, but I had to share them. At any rate, both are free, so I guess that makes them a good deal.

The first is a website called Elfster.com. Are you doing a Secret Santa exchange with your family? You can use Elfster.com to set the whole thing up. You can specify if certain people shouldn't get other certain people. Everyone can input a wish list with URLs is desired. You can even ask anonymous questions to whoever you are gifting if you need more help. It's everything you need for Secret Santa's!

The other is Main Street Bethlehem. Most of you have probably heard of this and the Vista Ridge youth are taking a trip. But if you've never been, you need to go. Out in Burnet (about 45-60 minutes drive), a church puts on a replica of what Bethlehem would have looked like. They do this the first two weekends in December (Saturday and Sunday only). We went last year and it was amazing. They had real camels and donkeys. They also have a delicious bread for you to sample. The lines are long, so get there early. It's completely free, but they do take donations.

You can take the Hill Country Flyer (Cedar Park scenice train) to Bethlehem, but that is pricey at $30 a ticket.

    25% Cashback from MSN Live

This can be a really good deal, but it's a little complicated. If you need help, call me or email me!

You can get a 25% rebate off some (mostly electronics) purchases on eBay through MSN's Live Cashback program. What works changes, but has included cameras, Wii's, and Playstations. If you are planning on making a big purchase for Christmas, this is a great deal. (This $100 off a $400 item!)

Go to www.live.com. Search for "wii" (even if that's not what you want, it will just get you to the right place). Click on the first link. It should say something like "Shop Wii - ebaystores....."

It will take you to eBay. On the top of the page, you should see this icon:

You should see this on all pages as you check out. If it goes away, you're not going to get the deal!!

Now you can search for what you really want. On the very top right-ish side, there is a search box. Search for what you want. In order to get the cashback, you must purchase a "Buy It Now" item using Paypal, so look for those and make sure the green cashback symbol is there before you click the final purchasing button.

You have to wait 60 days before you get your money back, so it is an investment, but you can find huge deals this way!

Supposedlythe percentage has fluctuated from 15% - 35% in the past year or so.

    Circuit City Closing

So, our big, shiny, new Circuit City is one of the 155 stores closing nationwide. They have big signs in the windows saying that everything is 10-20% off!

But, before you rush to the store, keep a few things in mind. Liquidators will raise prices and then take 10% off. 10% is basically tax, which you often don't pay if you buy things online. You can probably find what you want for cheaper online, even after shipping.

It might be worth checking out in a few weeks when they really start marking things down.

On another note, Linens and Things is also going out of business (we have one by Lakeline Mall). When I was there a couple weeks ago, they had pulled out the 10% - 20% off trick.

It's always tempting to buy things on sale. But if you don't need them, or if the sale isn't the best price, you end up falling for the marketing traps!

    Target 75% off Halloween

Target started their 75% off Halloween Clearance today. It will go to 90% before the end, but I find for the best deals and availability, it's good to hit it the first day of the 75% off sale.

I went in this morning. There are some costumes and home decor. Most of the clearance is candy. I picked up a few bags for 50 cents each.

Now, I know most of you probably don't want to even think about candy so soon after Halloween. I personally bought a bag of Skittles and a bag of Dots for decorating Gingerbread houses for Christmas. Most of the Halloween candy looks the same when you take the wrapper off. There are a bunch of dessert recipes that include candy bar pieces if you're going to make Christmas cookies and treats. Some of the candies are generic enough to put into stockings or include with Christmas gifts.

    The Children's Place!

I'm back! I'm going to try to post more regularly, especially as we're getting closer to Christmas. We could all use some deals now! It looks like they might be a little harder to find this year because retail is giving up on consumers.

This morning we went to the outlets. Children's Place always has really good sales. Today they had a bunch of clothes for $3.99 and even some cute things for $1.99. That's pretty good for brand new. (You can check out Childrensplace.com and look at their sale items. Some things were slightly cheaper online and some were slightly more, but you have to pay shipping).

Carter's had a $1.99 rack that included some boys gym shorts in many sizes and a lot of little clothes (18m and smaller).

    Free Food!

Ikea is offering free breakfast this Saturday until 10:30 am. By "breakfast" they mean their $0.99 breakfast plate and a $0.99 cup of coffee (I wonder if they would substitute?). So, not a huge deal, but if you've been wanting to go, it might be nice.

Chick-Fil-A will give you a free 3-count box of their new chicken strips on September 1st if you come by wearing your favorite football teams attire or logo! The one in the mall should be participating (I don't think our new one will be open yet, but I'm not sure).

Speaking of Chick-Fil-A, I'm not sure when they are opening and it might be too late. But I just found out that they have a Grand Opening tradition of giving the first 100 people a free meal each week for a year! People start lining up 24 hours beforehand, but according to the website, if more than 100 people are there by 6:30am on opening day, they do a raffle to see who wins! It might be worth looking into if you're a big fan!

    Prescription Hopping

If you have a prescription that needs refilling, spend a few minutes poking around to see if you can find a coupon to transfer your prescription. CVS, Walgreens, and sometimes Target frequently have these coupons out. Usually you have to transfer a prescription. A lot of times I'll start my prescription at HEB because I never see these coupons for them. Then I can transfer it wherever I have a coupon for when it's refill time!

Right now, if you transfer your prescription to Walgreens, you can get a $25 gift card with this coupon!

    20 Ingredients Make 20 Meals

This isn't a great deal, but kind of a cool, frugal feature.

On AllRecipes.com, they have a list of 20 meals that can be made with a list of 20 ingredients (ok, so they cheated, because on the side is a list of spices and condiments that are also called for that don't count towards the 20). Still, I have almost all 20 ingredients and spices on hand at all times. It might be worth it to print the list out for inspiration on those nights when you don't know what to cook!

    Intro To Walgreens

If you've never shopped at Walgreens before, you are in for a little treat.

Every month Walgreens comes out with their EasySaver Catalog. And, each month, there are several items listed in that catalog that are free after rebate. Usually these items include things like mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. Things you can never have too much of.

You buy the items, save the receipts, submit your information online, and wait for your money to come back to you. The first time you do this, it might take several weeks. After you do it once, it shouldn't take more than 2.

It gets better. You can opt to get your money back by check or by Walgreens gift card. If you ask for the gift card, you get an extra 10% back on your gift card. Then, the next month you can use your gift card to buy the items, send away for your rebate, ask for the card, and get another 10% extra back!

There are frequently coupons out for free items. You can use coupons on the items and still get the full price back as a rebate!

    Walgreens $5 off $20

I'm going to give you a full discourse on Walgreens shopping in just a minute, but first I wanted to post this.

Here is a $5 off $20 purchase at Walgreens, valid July 31st only. You must spend $20 after coupons.

You can use the coupon on the free after rebate items. If you bought all of the items free this month, your total would be $40. You could buy half the items, use the $5 off coupon, and still get the full price rebated back to you!

Coupons - What You Need To Know

Some of my deals will include coupons and if you've never dealt with them before, you might want to read my introduction below.

I currently have a Sunday news subscription to the Austin American Statesman, purely to get the coupons each week. I pull out each insert, write the date on the front in large, black marker and file it away. When I find a deal, I look for the coupon and cut it out.

Some people clip every coupon right away, organize them, and carry them all to the grocery store. That's more work, but then you never miss a deal because you left a coupon at home.

There can be up to 3 inserts in each newspaper. They each have their own brand name: SmartSource (SS), Procter and Gamble (P&G), and Red Plum (RP). When I refer to a coupon, I'll identify it like this:

    $1/1 Cheerios - SS 7/22

...which means the coupon is $1 off 1 box of Cheerios and came out in the July 22 Smart Source insert.

You can also find most coupons on eBay. Of course you have to make sure you can get the coupons fast enough to use them for the sale. There are a lot of printable coupons available and you can almost make do just using these. I haven't found a local store that won't accept them yet.

Coupons may or may not be worth it to you. We don't eat a lot of processed foods and at least half of coupons are for these foods. But there are a lot of coupons for cleaning products and toiletries. It helps if you are open-minded about the brands you use.

Don't forget Randall's doubles coupons up to 50 cents and triples coupons worth up to 39 cents. Although, if you have 5 of the same coupon, they only double or triple the first one.

Also, try not to fall into the trap of spending money just to save some money!

I'm hoping to use my resources to help you find good deals in the Cedar Park, TX area! Look for retail deals, grocery deals, drugstore deals, and even online deals.

I'm going to start with a disclaimer. I think there are a lot of great websites out there that do a great job pointing out deals. That's mainly where I get my information and I'll credit the sites where I get my information. Hopefully the fact that I have all the local deals in one spot will be helpful.

Our second greatest tool is each other. If you find a deal, let me know and I'll post it!
